Here’s how place value skills typically progress throughout the elementary grades:

Kindergarten – 1st Grade

It lets us read a video-game high score of 245,680 correctly, understand a weather report showing 1.2 inches of rain, and decide whether milk priced at $3.49 is a better deal than $3.79.
